On the BEGINNING page, you’ll find six foundational meditations — known as the Inner 6.

Each one serves as a gateway to understanding how meditation works, offering a different pathway into its benefits — from calming the mind to reconnecting with the body and emotions.

Body scanning

Body scanning teaches us the power of our awareness.

By taking our focus away from our minds and into our bodies we have a natural resource to calm ourselves down.

By becoming aware of this simple process, of moving our focus, we realise we have more control over how we feel.

Breathing

Breathing is a process we all naturally do without thinking about it. An involuntary process which keeps us alive. What is less well known is how breathing benefits us in other ways.

Here we begin to explain how our breathing can become a gateway to slowing down our minds and calming our bodies.

Being Kind to Yourself

This is a truly compassionate meditation encouraging a feeling of kindness towards ourselves.
It’s pleasantly surprising the number of new meditators whom are taken aback about their positive reaction to this meditation.

In the main we all believe we are kind to ourselves, and we are, but when was the last time you felt the feeling of kindness towards yourself?

When we sit down and experience the feeling of turning kindness inwards, we open the door to a potentially eye opening experience. And it is one we encourage everyone to experience first hand.

This is a perfect beginner meditation which encourages feeling a positive emotion which deepens a connection with yourself.

The Bubble

Visualising ourselves sitting within a bubble is widely used in meditation.

Allowing us to create a space of tranquillity away from our busy modern world.

The ability to feel the spaces around our body and beyond is a skill which is wholly underestimated. Being able to develop this skill both calms our central nervous system and builds a sense of presence.

This is widely becoming one of the favourite meditations of new meditators on Meditation Matters. So simple but having an unmistakably positive effect.

Leaning In

The Leaning In meditation invites you to receive what you need in this moment and beyond.

We lean In to what we need and this comes in the form of an emotion or an overall feeling. What we learn from this style of meditation is a really accessible way to support ourselves.

This meditation is infused with a feeling of your choice. A feeling which will benefit you. By Leaning In to your chosen feeling you are able to become more accustomed to it. This will allow you to express it more freely in your day to day life.

A bonus meditation offering an alternative way to access your feeling has been added to this page.

Higher Consciousness

Our Higher Consciousness is a consciousness which we envisage to be beyond us in the most considerate of ways. A consciousness which is wiser, kinder and more loving full than our selves, but most importantly has only our best interests at heart. We connect with our Higher Consciousness letting it afford us with what we require at that given time. It can be truly eye opening.
